• Brighton West Pier (Ltd)

The West Pier of Brighton has become one of the most photographed images of Brighton, the rapidly decaying structure providing photographers and video makers with a striking setting.

Built in 1866, it's been closed since 1975, awaiting renovations that two fires and various storm damage have made increasingly difficult. With the construction of a new 183m high observation tower underway and the forces of nature, it's not clear how much longer the remaining structure will dominate the view.

I used a neutral density filter (combined with a polarising filter) to create this effect, using a 2 minute exposure to blur the water and bring out the colours on a very bright day.
